The month of February is International Boost Your Self Esteem Month. Self Esteem is what a person actually thinks about themselves internally. We can have a strong sense of self esteem or our opinions can cause us to think negatively about ourselves and our circumstances. It is natural that throughout our lifetime we will experience peaks and valleys in our amounts of self esteem. However, no matter the what life situations we face it is important for us as women to always strive to increase our self esteem and have a high opinion of ourselves. We have to start thinking about ourselves in positive manner.
An important factor about self esteem is that is maintained and cultivated in our mind. Self esteem is NOT about how we look, what we wear, who we are related to or what others think about us. But the tricky thing is that if we don’t have a healthy sense of self esteem then others may have a lower opinion of us. Self esteem is only increased or decreased by the thoughts we have toward ourselves.
- Engaging in positive self talk. Self talk can influence your amount of self esteem. It is vital that women develop the habit of engaging in positive self talk. Giving yourself reassurance and positive affirmations is critical to being successful and giving your self esteem a boost. This needs to become a daily habit. We are what we think!
- Having Positive Relationships with our spouses, significant others, family and friends can contribute to developing a strong sense of self esteem. It is important that our relationships with other are healthy. This does not mean that the people around you won’t disappoint you or you will always agree. However, having positive relationships means that we have developed skills to deal with relationship challenges in positive ways.
- Work toward your goals everyday. Do some intentionally everyday that will get you closer to obtaining your goals. These goals can be big or small. Tracking your progress will enhance your self esteem.
Maintaining a healthy sense of self esteem is a lifelong process. It’s almost like a journey. As women we should constantly work to improve and maintain our self esteem at healthy levels. Use February to take an inventory of your current levels of self esteem. But most of all take action today!!!! Do something today that will make you feel better about yourself.






Great topic; We as Woman need to stand-up and take control of our lives, relationships and choices of Men. Self Esteem and Empowerment is what's needed to be strong.
