As busy women we juggle various roles each day. Naturally we are caregivers and often put the needs of our family, job, and other commitments before taking care of ourselves. However, we have to remember that our health has to be a priority. Being healthy is a vital aspect of living a balanced and fulfilled life.
September is Gynecological Cancer Month. Each year thousands of women are diagnosed with some form of gynecological cancer. These diseases may manifest itself in the cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes, vagina, vulva or uterus. Early detection is the key to combating these diseases. And the only way to detect these diseases is to get regular exams as recommended by your medical professional.
I know that some women may experience a certain level of anxiety when it it time for their annual pap smear. Don't allow your anxiety to stand in the way of your health. Find a medical professional that you feel comfortable with and schedule your exam. For others, getting their annual exam just may not be a priority. You may think that I'm done having kids or I may have had a partial hysterectomy so I'm not a risk. However, that simply isn't true. You have to take this aspect of your healthy seriously. You can't afford not too.
